The Counselling Co.

"When your ready to talk, I’m here to listen.

Hi there, I'm Anila. I'm a qualified counsellor.  I qualified in 2010 at the University of Lincoln.

I have worked for 4 years as a Counsellor with Victim support and also as a Learning Supervisor at a primary school in Lincolnshire where I mentored children with challenging behaviour for a year, I then spent 6 years working with adults with autism which I really enjoyed, which which included managing behaviours and limiting sensory overloads so that life can be lived to their full potential. I also worked  as part of a team for Social Services as a Caseworker along side working closely with my private counselling clients. I am currently working as part of the Complex Behavior Team, supporting parents/schools on how to manage their child’s sensory needs.

I  offer private one to one, , telephone or teams counseling, supporting many individuals from a range of back grounds and age groups.

I am passionate about supporting individuals in finding themselves, their strengths, goals and their happiness.  I feel confident that my support and guidance can change an individuals perspective and outlook on life.

I am a trained listener and I will hear what you’re saying without judgment.  I offer a safe space where your feelings and emotions can be explored at your own pace. It is vital that when attending sessions that you are as open and honest as possible, no matter what feelings this may bring about in you. During the course of the sessions you may feel challenged, upset and relief at times but this is quiet normal and I’ll be hear to support you through it all.  That is when we will start to make progress and start moving forward to a brighter future.

Please feel free and assured that I am able and qualified to support you through these times.

I support individuals with stress management, confidence building, effective communication skills, anxiety, relationship issues, battling with insecurities/fears abuse and identity issues.

I use a combination of models, i.e. Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy during our sessions depending on the individuals needs.

I may however mention that all  sessions are confidential at all times except if the client mentions of any immediate danger to him/herself or others. If a client is endangering a population that can not protect themselves, such as in child or elderly abuse. This is the legal responsibility of the Counsellor to break confidentiality at this point and inform the correct services.

"Anila's approach was friendly and welcoming. From the outset she was sincere about how she might help. When going through stuff it's difficult to find people who can provide objective help with clear suggestions for what steps can be taken or for that matter someone who takes a genuine interest in simply wanting to listen. In Anila I found a counsellor who took a real interest in me and my case. That was comforting. I began to look forward to the sessions and felt stronger after each. This helped me to think about who I was and of what I would focus on to embrace the gift of life I had been given in a whole new way. Anila helped me to reflect and see the experiences I had been through as opportunities to learn some powerful life lessons that will help me in future. I know I'm a better person now in myself and for those around me as a result of that journey. My advice to you reading this is please don't despair. Do invest in help that you know you need because taking Anila's help will support you to get much stronger."

"I have suffered from recurring depression for 21 years and have tried several counselling services. Without going into too much detail they didn’t help; it seemed like too much work and very little movement forward therefore I gave up and did not seek counselling for a very long time and just stuck to the meds. In the last year I got to a point where I was severely depressed and a friend recommended Anila to me. In the past my counselling has been through the NHS and private, as a last resort I contacted Anila and after our first conversation I felt as though I could work with this person on the other end of the phone. I was right. I believe for me it is her non-judgemental approach, she is the only counsellor I felt able to disclose everything to. No matter what I have experienced she has listened and helped me to understand who I am. Confidential, professional, empathetic, patient, non- judgemental and an excellent listener are some of the terms I would use to describe her. Thank you so much for everything you have helped me with."

"I have been suffering from low mood and low self-esteem for quite a while. I went to see Anila and straight away she made me feel comfortable and relaxed, enough to open up about things which I had been holding in from near enough everybody. Anila was very non-judgmental and she never forced me to say anything that I didn't want to. After, speaking to Anila I feel a lot clearer on where to go with progressing with any issues I have. She gave me some great ideas about coping with my feelings and low mood. Thank you for all your help ma'am. Would definitely recommend your services."

"I was nervous at first but Anila made me feel like a normal person, she made me feel like I can do anything, I didn't talk much at all for the first couple of sessions and she said it was okay and that I was being true to myself. I like her authentic way of counselling, it made me open up to trusting myself again and others.
